Particularly
famous for it's rural backdrop of rice fields, mountains and
lakes,
Tohoku is the most northerly region of the main island Honshu.
It consists of 6 prefectures: Akita, Aomori, Fukushima,
Iwate, Miyagi, Yamagata.
Places to visit:
Sendai |
Sendai lies in the centre of the Tohoku region. As if to reflect
the region as a whole,this city contains a
lot of greenery and nature. This has led to it being dubbed 'the city of
trees'. |
Matsushima bay |
Often thought of as one of the most scenic places in Japan,
Matsushima bay consists
of a number of small islands, each
covered in Pine trees. |
Kakunodate |
Famous for its well preserved Samurai culture, this
town also puts on a great cherry blossom festival in April. |
